The opening of one of Coate Water most loved features, the summer Splash park, has been scheduled to reopen from the 19th July. The same day as the government is removing all Covid restrictions. The Pitch & Putt Office will also be reopened.
Cllr Dale Heenan, Cabinet member for Country Parks "The Splash Park is an important part of Coate Water during the summer season, and it has been repaired, jetwashed, painted and will be ready for families to use safely, hopefully, without Covid restrictions from the 19th July. We haven't had much sunny weather recently but with school holidays are rapidly approaching so the Splash Park will be open to enjoy!"
Cllr Kevin Parry, Cabinet member for Service Delivery & Waste "The Government’s announcement on the 14th June delaying the removal of Covid restrictions meant the splash park would not be able to open without significant issues. The maximum group size we can allow is 30 but the Splash park is so popular that we would normally see 5 times that number enjoying the water. Reopening the Splash Park is a great way to mark Covid Freedom Day this summer"
Cllr Jenny Jefferies, ward councillor "Coate Water is one of the great Country Parks that Swindon families love and enjoy. It is fantastic that improvements will occur in the spring with a new play area, and the cleaning of the diving board, but it is important that we focus on what Coate has to offer today. Imagine a hot summer's day where you walk around the Coate Water lake with an ice cream and then the children cool off with a quick dip in the Splash Park. Great!"
Cllr William Horley, "It's great news that as we enter the summer holidays the splash park will be reopening for children, families and groups of friends to enjoy. Combined with the Pitch and Putt, Coate Water will remain a go-to destination for residents this summer."
