A new provider has been found to run the short breaks service formerly provided by Hop Skip and Jump.
The Brunel SEN MAT, in partnership with Uplands Enterprise Trust will take over services previously run by Hop Skip and Jump to continue their vital work for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).
Following the loss of the former service provider, I raised concerns about the impact on staff and the further impact on parents/carers and the young people who have built up solid relationships with those staff, based on a foundation of trust. I am pleased to have been informed that the former staff are being interviewed by Brunel SEN MAT for positions, so I am hopeful that they will be retained and help to maintain stability for families who use the centre.
The service will offer a variety of activities for children and young people to engage with. There are indoor and outdoor play facilities, all with an emphasis on self-development and discovery. There are also sensory rooms, soft play facilities and art rooms that the children can enjoy while their parents receive a much-needed break.
A launch date for the new service will be confirmed soon and details about the range of short break services and activities offered will be communicated shortly.
Service users of Hop, Skip and Jump will be contacted by social workers to explain the options available for support this summer on an individual basis.
