North Swindon MP Justin Tomlinson has joined forces with South Swindon MP Robert Buckland to recognise local community heroes.
The MPs are calling for residents to get in touch and nominate a local community hero as part of Volunteers Week 2020.
Volunteers Week is an annual celebration of the contribution millions of people make across the UK through volunteering.
This year’s Volunteers Week is due to take place from between 1st and 7th of June and will focus on volunteers who have taken on coronavirus-related volunteering roles to help communities cope with the many consequences of coronavirus.
Justin Tomlinson MP commented:
“I am very proud of the way the community has come together to support each other throughout the coronavirus outbreak. There are some amazing charities and volunteers in Swindon, and I have heard of many wonderful examples of people going above and beyond to help other people. I want to make sure their efforts are recognised and rewarded.
“I am calling on residents to nominate a local community champion who has gone out of their way at this difficult time. The selfless work of all of those nominated will be celebrated on my website and I will be issuing Volunteer Week Certificates to those runners up and winners who have been especially chosen for going that extra mile.”
To nominate a community champion in your local area, please email [email protected] with your full name and address, the name of the person you would like to nominate and the reason why you are nominating that person.
All entries must be received by 31st May 2020.
