The regeneration of our town centre took a step forward today as insurance firm Zurich appointed a contractor to start building the firm’s new, state-of-the-art office.
It’s the culmination of months of hard work behind-the-scenes with the Council making the land available to enable Zurich to become the anchor tenant in the Kimmerfields development.
Swindon has been home to Zurich for more than 30 years, the new, 100,000 sq.ft, eco-friendly building will provide a modern workspace for more than 950 staff and is key to transforming both the Kimmerfields site and Fleming Way.
Focusing on the wellbeing of staff, sustainability and biodiversity, the building will feature beehives on the roof terrace producing honey to be sold by the Zurich Community Trust. There will also be extra cycling facilities for sustainable commuting and the building will be single-use plastic free.
The community will also have access to co-working spaces, plus schools and colleges will be involved in creating the internal artwork.
Construction work will start on site next month and the office is due to be complete by 2022.
